    Leading from the back

    Leading from the back

I’ve arrived at the point in life where I lead from the back.

I’ve been the guy in the front, literally carrying the flag, for a long time. Decades.
I’ve fronted rock bands. I’ve owned companies. I’ve given the morning speech to a plant full of employees as the boss, for years. I’ve been a mentor, a boss, a president, a founder, a leader and a daddy. All at once.

But nowadays, I’ve built some things. And I wanna know that the legacy will live on beyond me. So I lead from the back.

I’m back there watching. Seeing how the leaders do it. Taking them aside later for encouragement or correction.

I’m waiting to see great men step up, into their calling, into their greatness, and into the void I’m leaving, as I lead from the back.

I don’t have to about orders anymore, I can shout encouragement.
I don’t have to be daddy bringing the spanking, I can be grandpa bringing the love and the excitement.

It’s an odd transition going from enforcer to encourager.

Sometimes leadership does need a harsh and heavy hand when the table gets flipped and the cards go everywhere.

But I’ve come to the age and the place, finally, where leading with a light hand becomes enjoyable.

It’s a reminder for all of us. Lean back and let others bring the light into the void. Guide, correct, encourage, excite.

Motivating the mentors is the ultimate position of leader ship. So raise the mentors, then motivate them. Even an apostle needs to be built up at times.
All the way down to the lowest level of leader ship, we can learn to lean back, and lead with a light hand. We can encourage those who are interested to take the next step in leader ship. Responsibility there’s always what we’re offering, not power or position.

So sometimes you have to step back, and let them take responsibility.
And what you will find is someone who gives it they are ultimate, and does it far better than what you envisioned, because you’ve given them space to give, grow, and show excellence.

Looking for the next level of men to promote. Having an individualized leader ship plan to develop them. Leaving space an error for them to expand, clipping their wings when necessary, and fertilizing the pruned.

Time will come for you to do these things.
    If you are a leader.
    Leadership 101

    This is a Motorcycle Club

    This is a Motorcycle Club.

This is not just a brotherhood, its a corporation too. You have to sign a dotted line. You don't take your place, you earn it, by bringing something to the table. Under no circumstances will you just be patched right up, and if it takes a year, then so be it. We are not excited that you are here, we are cautiously optimistic that you will learn club ways, and will not get yourself shot by your local 1%er, and bring a bad cloud over the ministry.

We expect you to demonstrate over a period of time that you understand brotherhood, and that your opinion may be subject to your brothers. We expect maturity, not just cutting off your patch and going to some other club because you're offended at a brother. That's weakness, and we will weed you out rather than patch you up, out of respect for the real brothers.

We expect you to reach out to the 1%, and all bikers, to reach out to your brother's, to know them, across the country. You are not here to wear a patch and look cool, you are here to forward the unique ministry that God has given us, to be under the mission. Submission. And if you do, people will get saved, lives will be changed, and you will enter a place that many have prospected for, and failed.

You will earn the name DISCIPLE! Give it time, and enjoy the journey. We are building something REAL and LASTING. It will be neither easy or quick, nor will it always be fun.

There will be trials, but there will be rewards.

    GOD IS GREAT 888

    DEPTH CHARGE 2015

    DEPTH CHARGE 2015

I've been praying and meditating on God's word to Disciple Christian Motorcycle Club for 2015. For our first few years we sought breadth. Perhaps selfishly or for reasons of pride, we wanted to grow. We grew across America and elsewhere. Last year the 2014 word was Depth. We wanted to see relationships deepen across the country. We asked bros to be reaching across state lines...

    43 NAZARITE

Disciple Christian Motorcycle Club realizes that many of its members come from a lifestyle that included the use of harmful substances like tobacco, drugs and alcohol in the past. As Christians we strongly believe that drugs are out of line completely with a holy lifestyle, and as a disciple we agree not to ever use illicit drugs. Further, we recognize that alcohol and tobacco are not helpful to...
